Presentation by Sarina Gibbon, APIA

Lockdowns are bad enough, the last thing you want is to run afoul of lockdown specific tenancy rules.

Do you know that new tenancy rules restricting/alternating termination, termination notices/orders and fixed-term roll overs (and possibly limiting rent increases) could be (and very likely would be) triggered by future COVID lockdowns/restrictions?

This webinar follows up on our previous presentation, COVID-19 Response (Management Measures) Legislation Bill, and covers the finalised new rules per the Act.

Session topics
  • What is a CTO – Under what circumstances can the Minister of Housing make a Covid-19 tenancies order (i.e. trigger covid tenancy rules);

  • COVID tenancy rules – The effects of a CTO vis-à-vis termination, fixed-term roll over (and possibly) rent increase; and

  • Gaming out common tenancy scenarios – How these new rules will apply in hypothetical (but common) tenancy scenarios.
