Webchat with Peter Lewis, NZPIF

On the face of it, interest limitation has made new-build properties more attractive for investors. Before joining the rest of the flock, why not give existing properties another look?

Using a live property deal (of an existing property) as an example, we chat to seasoned investor Peter Lewis about some of the inherent advantages of investing in existing properties, ways to offset the cash flow pressure of interest limitation and how to decide whether existing/new properties are for you.

Session topics
  • Evaluating a live property deal (along with running cost figures from comparable properties) through the lens of interest limitation as well as other current opportunities for and constraints on investors
  • The trade-offs for interested deductibility in the new-build space
  • Return to the first principle about property investing
Speaker

Peter has been a property investor since the early 90s and currently sits on the boards of the Auckland Property Investors’ Association as well as the New Zealand Property Investors’ Federation.
