Webinar presentation by Brad Olsen, Infometrics

HOW DID PROPERTY INVESTMENT BECOME SO CONTROVERSIAL IN NZ AND WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE

Brad Olsen is in a somewhat unique position. Not only is he one of the most prolific economic commentators in NZ but he is also a JP, a collector of various leadership awards and a flatmate (perhaps the most ordinary thing about this extraordinary Gen Z who has yet to turn 25). Not only are his views on how economic policies intersect with the market and impact communities fresh and insightful; he is also able to articulate his thoughts and expectations in ways that are cohesive and easy to understand.

Who better then to help APIA members tackle the big questions such as Why is property investing so controversial? Are we on the right track to address the housing crisis? What place do residential investors have in the new New Zealand? At this presentation, Brad will be shedding some light on the dynamic relationship investors have with the rest of the country, the impact policies on individuals as well as the market and the role of the public sentiment.

Session topics
  • The NZ housing crisis from Brad's perspective, the moving parts, the solutions and the prospect of reaching market equilibrium;
  • How housing, tax and other social policies drive individual decisions, create trends and impact future perspectives; and
  • What is it going to take to achieve housing and rental affordability?
Speaker

Brad is a Senior Economist and Director at Infometrics. Since joining the Infometrics team in 2015, Brad has risen to be one of New Zealand’s more prominent (and youngest) economic commentators, regularly featuring across TV, radio, print, and online. In addition to his many accomplishments, Brad was recently named 2020 Young Wellingtonian of the Year.
