At first glance, the financial upside of an AirBnB property seems clear: travellers are almost always happy to pay more for short-term holiday accommodation than tenants are for long-term rents and Parliment doesn't seem terribly fussed about regulating holiday home landlords these days. On paper, the profits certainly look incredible with no much downside. But is that really the case in real life? 

Alex Rogers is an Auckland-based property investor and longtime APIA member who had one of the most highly-rated AirBnBs in Auckland CBD from late-2016 to mid-2018, with the property even being featured on TV. Since the introduction of the Auckland Council's accommodation provider targeted rate this year, the property has transitioned back to a traditional rental.

In this presentation, Alex will provide you with an insight into the highs and lows of investing in the short-term market, and will outline what it takes to have a 5-Star AirBnB.
