Warren Buffett once said, 'You never know who is swimming naked until the tides go out.'  Now that the tides are about to turn, there is still time to make sure you do not get caught with your pants down.  

Right now, the effects of investment decisions that are based on shortsightedness, confirmation bias, and the crowd mentality are still being disguised by the natural appreciating force of the market.  Not for much longer though.  We are at the tail end of that market phase where you can still get away with not planning for the long term and putting contingency plans in place for the what-if scenarios.  You are more likely to invest successfully for longer when you know to expect problems and plan for them.  There is still time to tidy up your strategy and stay disciplined towards your goals. 

This keynote meeting is all about respecting the cyclical nature of the property cycle and carrying out a premortem for your investment career so that you put yourself in the best position to succeed in the long term.  Our panelists will be addressing the three main areas of property: investment, management, and property improvement.  Talking points include:

Will Alexander, Barfoot and Thompson Property Management Business Manager and Investor - At the end of his sporting career, and having essentially lived and breathed Real Estate all his life, Will entered the industry as a property manager.  Fast forward 10 years on, Will is the Business Manager for Auckland's largest private property management company - Barfoot & Thompson.  The industry is changing and no matter the challenges it is a positive step forward for the industry and property investors.  Will's job is to keep Barfoot & Thompson ahead of the curve and to empower the team to provide great service to their clients. 

Sean Stewart, Investor and APIA Member - A long-term buy and hold investor with over 20 years experience as an investor and active landlord. Sean’s investment portfolio is focussed predominately on 3 – 4 bedroom family homes in Auckland but also has properties in regions outside of Auckland.

Mark Trafford, Maintain To Profit Director and Investor - Mark has been successfully investing, maintaining and renovating all types of properties for over 25 years in both the United Kingdom and New Zealand. With over well over 30 years experience in the building industry, Mark has the well-deserved reputation of being a top-notch and insightful speaker to property investors.
